Aloha! Time for the 30 week update. These past ten weeks have really flown by especially because they were all wrapped up in Christmas, New Years and my birthday. It was so wonderful to find out that we were having a little boy and that has keep my excitement up as I count down to this little guy.
Christmas was really special for me because I really appreciated everything that Mary went through as a mother being pregnant with a little boy myself. I took a lot of time to reflect on what it must have been like to be given such a huge responsibility of raising the son of God. The thing that I concluded on was that it doesn't make my role any less important, I still need to teach my son of the importance of his life here on earth and that he can serve the Lord but it made me grateful for Mary in a way I have never thought of before because I can vouch for all my weaknesses as a mother and thinking of what it must of being like knowing that you were raising the future Savior of the world could only make you feel more unworthy.
New Years saw me resolve to do better and I discovered that pregnancy and sparkling cider do not mix very well at all. I over ate and ate during New Years and so Jenna and I decided to go on a sugar free diet and I have to say that I am feeling so much better for it! My birthday was awesome and I got to go back to Haleiwa Joes and I know that my baby is a meat eater because I feel great after eating a good steak!
Doctor visits have been uneventful except for failing my 1 hour glucose which means I needed to go and do a 3 hour test at Kahuku ---- BORED out of my mind---- but I passed and don't have gestational diabetes. The results did show that I am anemic so it is Iron pills for me. I am on the countdown now and I go to 2 week appointments starting next week, which means it not long till doctors start sticking their hands up where no hand should go...... Arrgh!
If I had any complaints it would not sleeping comfortably at night and having heartburn that feels likes a fire in my chest but my skin and hair looks amazing so who is complaining! LOL..... I am still doing my positive thinking towards a natural birth although often times I find myself thinking that I just schedule a casear day then I have an actually day to count down towards but I really really want to PUSH this kid right out of me! My positive thinking involves a fast labor and fast delivery.... maybe a little to optimistic but we will see!
I hope I don't have to do a 40 week update!

Valley of the Temples & Hanamua Bay
Happy Human Rights Day! Thats right today was a holiday here in the land of the U.S.A. and because we are counting down our time here in Hawaii we decided it was another bucket list day. The original plan was to go to Valley of the Temples and see the Boydin Temple and walk around BUT we found out it was $3 per person and a $1 for children - to see a temple.... Ah no thanks. So we quickly jumped on the internet and found out that Hanamua Bay was free if you are a Hawaii resident! We texted our wonderful friends to see if we could borrow their snorkeling gear (because rentals was $9 each) and headed to the other side of the island. On the way we decided we would just have a drive around the Valley of the Temples and got this awesome picture below!
When we got to Hanamua Bay we found that the parking lot was FULL - OH NO! We drove around trying to find a space to park but beesides a Foodland about 10 minutes away that would have included a long walk up their was nothing! Joe said he would drop us off and then go down and park - sweet husband. I said a quick prayer and would you know it as we were pulling up they took down the parking lot full sign and we were able to go in and get a park! Such a blessing! The admission fee was $7.50 and we didn't have to pay it because of our wonderful student IDs. All up we paid $1.00 the entire day! Sweet holiday!
If you haven't been and you live in Hawaii it is definitely worth the 1 hour drive to go. The water was so nice and calm and the fish are like swimming between your legs and you don't even have to go very far. Take a pack lunch and your IDs and you will have a great day!

Matsumotos Shave Ice
Another item off the bucket list. On our way back from Costco we decided to cool down with some Matsumoto Shave Ice. It was so great! I love that the servings are so huge and the most you pay for anything is $3.00! Unbelievable!
Playground Fun
Ward BBQ = an opportunity for Hinalei to play at the TVA park! She absolutely loved and it made me recommit to taking her more because she is a little outdoor adventurer. She loves the swing so much and also going down the slide.
Fun Days at the Beach!
We have been very blessed with some beautiful weather on the Saturdays on 2011. We have found a new favorite beach called "Bikini Beach" which has low tides and nice white sand. It is our new favorite. Here are some fun shots from our past couple of weekends. We are truly grateful to live in Hawaii and enjoy such beautiful beaches and gorgeous weather. I know that this will be one of the many things that I miss when we finally leave this beautiful island.
Clear blue water and white sand!
Hinalei and mummy sharing some smiles
This is what happens when you fall asleep in the sand!
