Overcoming Trials

SO I am so so so happy and excited about our wonderful family portraits. I knew I wanted to get some done when Hinalei turned one and hopefully the tradition continues as we add more children to our family but as I was sitting tonight looking at our picture I could help but realize that something more beautiful was showing through on the pictures.

I am not going to go into details about what has been going on in our little family but sufficient to say we have been having some deeply personal family trials, yet grateful and humbly we have finally managed to overcome and begin working our way out of these.

So as I look at the beautiful picture I notice that our family is still very much linked and woven together, that we are smiling (yes even though life can get you down you need to smile, HAPPINESS is so important). I notice that behind us the clouds are dark and threatening but the important thing is that they are behind us and we are moving forward. In the picture we are sitting in the middle of a bridge, this to is so symbolic because it shows that we are crossing this bridge (trial) and that if we continue to stay linked and woven together we will keep smiling and keep carrying on we will be able to weather the storms of life together.

What a wonderful realization for me and my family. I look to the scriptures to help describe this event and I think of the counsel of Helaman to his sons in Helaman 5:12:
And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.

I know this to be true! What TRUTH! I glory in TRUTH, just as I glory in the Savior and his atonement. May I continue to weather the storms so I may one day enter into the rest of our Father in Heaven.I love the gospel and the strength it gives to each family.May Heavenly Bless each of you that Blesses our lives each and every day. Amen.
